Power of Microinteractions

Microinteractions are moments in product design that achieve a specific task, while augmenting what is proposed to be the natural design flow. For example, it is the “Skip recap” button on video platforms or animation when content is loading. Great microinteractions come with creative ideas which enhance the power of web/app to make it more engaging for the users. If we don’t use any kind of animation or microinteractions then in a way, we are losing the main essence of design. It feels challenging to ideate them initially but the end result is usually going to turn out interesting. Initially, when I started creating microinteractions it took me a lot of time to understand the new software and how they work but it helps when you ideate the design and concept first on paper and then it will take less time and effort to create digitally. There are so many software that you can use to create microinteractions but only few are very helpful and powerful, example Adobe after effects, Principle and Flinto.

Nothing is easy until you practice again & again!

Simple microinteractions are very helpful and pleasing for the users. Adding too much animation will confuse the users and also the website will take longer to load through which makes the user experience unsatisfactory. Always iterate the microinteractions until it feels smooth and perfect.

Here are few microinteractions which I made it using Flinto and Principle:
